Lenten Service/Supper/Program – Wednesday Evenings in Lent

Lenten Evening Series – Growing a Rule of Life
Wednesdays LentFeb 17-Mar 16 from 5:30-7:30

Modern life is hectic. There seems to be a million things pulling us in various directions, taxing our time, and breaking our focus. We all need help to stay centered. This Lent we will be using a program that helps us look at the various relationships in our lives and develop a way of living, known as a Rule of Life, that will allow us integrate the parts of our life so that we can focus more fully on becoming who God created us to be.  The study series, Growing a Rule of Life, was developed by Virginia Theological Seminary and the Society of Saint John the Evangelist, and includes videos you can access on your own if you miss a class, group discussion questions, and an optional daily email devotional to help us stay on track through Lent. Together we will develop the tools to grow and to thrive.

We will start with a short Eucharist at 5:30 in the Chapel, and then share a simple Lenten soup dinner at 6, followed by our class. If you would like to be part of this class, please let us know so that we can plan for the dinner (stpaulspeoria@stpaulspeoria.com). You can see an introductory video and explanation at http://ssje.org/ssje/growrule/.

Adult Forum in Lent: Trying on Spiritual Practices
In the Sunday morning class during Lent we will discuss various spiritual disciplines – including prayer, fasting, service, and hospitality –that we are invited to “try on,” to see how they fit in our faith lives, and how they might make us more faithful and bring us closer to God.

Lenten Youth Sunday School: Echo The Story
Using a curriculum that employs video, storytelling, creative reflection, and dialogue, our youth will explore the stories of Jesus last days through his death and resurrection to see what lessons we can learn for our own lives today.
